Ms Ciara McGoldrick’s Profile

Ms Ciara McGoldrick is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the Belfast trust, based in the Belfast City Hospital, specialising in treating women with breast cancer.

Her private practice rooms are at Kingsbridge Private Hospital. Most of her training has taken place in Northern Ireland, but she has also had periods of research in Canada and undertaken years of sub-specialty training in the Royal Marsden Hospital and St Andrew’s Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery in Essex.

Ms McGoldrick’s area of interest is breast reconstruction, and she has undertaken combined training that allows her to treat breast cancer through from diagnosis to refinements in surgery. Her specific skills are in free flap reconstruction, primarily DIEP flap reconstruction of the breast, which involves using the fat from the lower part of the tummy to make a breast, performed either at the time of cancer surgery or at a later date.

She also undertakes abdominal wall, vaginal and perineal reconstruction in support of her surgical colleagues in Belfast City Hospital.
