Hans Nagar is a Consultant Gynaecologist / Gynaecological Oncologist at the Belfast Trust, based at the Belfast City Hospital. He specialises in treating women with gynaecological cancers and women requiring complex pelvic surgery.
Mr Nagar has a long history of training other doctors and a continuing interest in medical publications in peer reviewed journals.
In 2019 he was separately interviewed and appointed to roles of the Lead Clinician for gynaecological cancer and also the Lead Clinician for patient safety in gynaecology in the Belfast Trust.
Most of his training has taken place in Northern Ireland and England but Ihe has also trained in Toulouse, France and Melbourne, Australia.
His other special interests include the care of women with pelvic pain, endometriosis, heavy or irregular periods, vaginal discharge, ovarian cysts, abnormal smears, cancer screening and vulval problems such as VIN.
In particular Ihe is a specialist in keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, difficult pelvic surgery, colposcopy for abnormal smears and transvaginal ultrasound scanning.
Following extended training, he is one of the few subspeciality trained gynaecological cancer surgeons in Northern Ireland.
Please note Mr Nagar does not treat women with bladder problems or perform surgery for prolapse or incontinence and these women should see his colleagues specialising in urogynaecology.

Mr Nagar was born in England and moved to NI in 1995 to get married and has stayed ever since. His wife is a local doctor and they have grown up twins.
