Kingsbridge Private Hospital is currently seeking to recruit General Practitioners (Permanent and Locum). The successful candidates will be based at various locations throughout Northern Ireland and must be able to travel on occasions, to various other clinic locations, as and when required.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be an ambitious doctor with General Practice training and an interest in diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries, or a doctor with predominantly A&E experience but also experience in General Medicine to include the desired requirements stated below. The successful applicant will be expected to aid a growing Private GP and Minor Injuries Service, supported by surgical and Nurse specialists in General Practice and minor injuries. Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out the necessary duties to ensure the best and most cost-effective treatment of patients.
  • To play a lead role in ensuring integrated and focused healthcare provision relevant to the differing needs of our patients.
  • To be personally accountable for professional and ethical actions and practices within a legal and ethical framework that adheres to the GMC’s requirements & KPH policies & procedures.
  • To provide a full range of diagnosis, treatment and care to patients who require GP services and ensure GP care which is responsive to patient needs and to changes in workload.
  • To take clinical responsibility for patients and maintain appropriate records of treatment given for a private GP service.
  • To offer and carry out consultations, and where appropriate, physical examinations for the purposes of identifying and reducing the risk of illness, disease or injury.
  • Arrange for the referral of patients as appropriate for the provision of any other service in the group.
  • Assessment and management of minor injuries. Initial assessment, management and appropriate onward referral of any emergencies should this arise.
  • To undertake all necessary administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
  • Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation including the clinical governance programme.
  • Will be responsible for improving the range of services available to patients in the primary care setting to provide greater continuing care for patients.
  • To attend management, medical advisory, and clinical governance meetings when required.
  • Ability to form constructive and effective professional relationships with existing consultants and staff.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients and staff both orally and in writing.
  • Will assist in the forward planning and budgeting of the GP service to help hospital management arrive at a realistic financial allocation to meet the needs of the service.

Person Specification:

Qualifications and experience required

Essential

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a substantive GP post
  • Current full GMC Registration
  • Inclusion in the GMC GP Register
  • Evidence of CPD and further education/training
  • Commitment to developing professional practice and skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience in the Private Sector
  • Higher Post Graduate membership
  • Previous experience in all aspects of General Practice / GUM and Travel Clinic / Health Screening / A&E / diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries

Special skills / abilities

Essential

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the demands of work in the private sector
  • Effective skills in management, interpersonal, problem solving and decision making.
  • Promotion of team working.
  • Objective setting and achievement/motivation.
