Kingsbridge Private Hospital is currently seeking to recruit an additional Chef within the Catering department. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated chef to join the Kitchen team in our state-of-the-art hospital on the Lisburn Road.

As well as the excellent medical care from doctors, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, the hospital’s the catering department plays an instrumental role in helping patients make a speedy recovery with their healthy  local cuisine.

Job Summary

The Chef will be responsible for assisting the Catering Manager and the Head Chef in the running of Kingsbridge Private Hospital catering service. They will be required to work five, 8-hour shifts per week, including weekends and have an ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner.
The ideal candidates should have at least 3 years’ restaurant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Preparing healthy and varied lunch options to staff and patients on a daily basis
  • Helping to manage food purchasing and storage ensuring targets are met in relation to food costs
  • Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Having an ability to demonstrate an up to date and in depth understanding of the industry
  • Supervising the service to ensure presentation of food is compliant with 5* standards
  • Working calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Working as part of a team but also independently

Factor Essential Desirable
Qualifications
  • Food hygiene qualification such as the Institute of Environmental Health Officers (IEHO) Advanced Level
  • City & Guilds certificates 7061/2/3 or a relevant NVQ (e.g. in food preparation and catering)
Experience
  • At least 3 years’ restaurant experience
 
Special Knowledge and Skills
  • An awareness of HACCP Principles
