Dr Paul Horan qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998 and trained primarily in Northern Ireland with time also at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He became a Cardiology Consultant in 2009 and a clinical lead for Cardiology in the Northern Trust. Dr Horan is presently a council member for the Irish Cardiac Society.
Dr Horan can see all common cardiac conditions such as chest pain/angina, shortness of breath, palpitations/heart rhythm disorders, inherited and familial conditions, and cardiac causes of loss of consciousness.
He also subspecialises in cardiac imaging including dye tests (cardiac catheterisation), cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), nuclear dye tests (MPI), cardiac MRI.
Based in Antrim Area Hospital with 1 session per week in the Royal Victoria Hospital performing dye tests (cardiac catheterisations) and 1 session in the Mater Hospital performing cardiac MRI scans.
Dr Horan is married and is fortunate to have 2 children (twins!).
He has always been keen on sport throughout his life until now, mostly soccer and athletics. He still runs regularly and competes in local races and has even run for Northern Ireland in the masters category (people who are old enough to know better, but don’t!).
Dr Horan is naturally an outgoing person and meets up with friends and family regularly and attends as many music concerts as he can.
