Dr Brian McCrossan trained in paediatric cardiology at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. He also completed two fellowships during his training: One year at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and a further two year fellowship in paediatric cardiac catheter interventions in Dublin. He was awarded the Colonel Davis Scholarship for research in 2009 and has recently been given an honorary lecturer role at Queen's University Belfast.
Dr McCrossan has published widely in international journals across a range of topics in congenital heart disease and is frequently invited to speak at international/ national conferences & training courses. He maintains a keen interest in medical research with particular interests in telemedicine, genetic syndromes associated with heart disease and psychological impact of heart disease on children and their families.
Dr McCrossan offers consultation on the full range of cardiac conditions and symptoms in children and adolescents: Assessment of murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath with exertion and inherited cardiac disorders such as cardiomyopathy & Long QT syndrome.
He offers cardiac investigations including 12 lead ECG, transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, exercise stress testing, ambulatory ECG monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and Implantable loop recorder insertion.
