Due to continued expansion Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are currently seeking to fill the role of Maintenance Person within the Estates/Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will be based at Kingsbridge Private Hospital North West (Ballykelly).

Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                     

  1. Carry out planned preventative maintenance and maintain plant and equipment.
  2. Carry out minor reactive/breakdown maintenance e.g., replace lamps, clear blocked drains, etc.
  3. Undertake repair work throughout the Hospital as directed.
  4. Assist all disciplines of craftsperson as required.
  5. Assist outside contractors when they are undertaking work within the Hospital.
  6. Be able to achieve acceptable standards of workmanship and productivity.
  7. Carry out weekly boiler safety checks and maintenance.
  8. Undertake monthly monitoring of hot and cold water systems.
  9. Record and observe the amount of domestic oil used in the Hospital on a weekly basis.
  10. Carry out weekly generator tests and record.
  11. Control of Clinical Waste storage area and uplift by external contractor.
  12. Be responsible for ensuring that all outside compounds are locked daily and remain free from weeds and debris.
  13. Monitor the building exterior for any signs of deterioration. Where greenery or ivy is growing on building it should be kept trimmed and to the proper standard.
  14. Inspect perimeter fencing and gates on a regular basis and inform Estates Officer of any repairs required.
  15. Use all relevant tools and equipment in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.
  16. Receive job requisitions daily from the Estates Manager for your working day and report completion of work at the end of each working day.
  17. Communicate with members of staff at all levels throughout the Hospital.
  18. Participate in mandatory training as required.
  19. Participate in annual performance reviews and development planning.
  20. Plumbing and/or electrical experience would be advantageous, but not essential.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in maintenance role
  • Recognised Trade Apprenticeship
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team dynamic,
  • IT literate
  • Possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive working experience in the Building environment.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems.
  • Good communication skills, for effective working relationships throughout the organisation
  • Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Flexible individual who can cope with new and changing demands
  • Ability to work flexibly as needs arise

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a Hospital Environment.
  • A thorough understanding of Healthcare building environment.
  • A thorough working knowledge statutory, mandatory and best practice guidance/regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and ability to carry out risk assessments of sites and audits of services.
  • Basic understanding of HTMs
  • Knowledge of specific planned maintenance software systems. e.g. Zeta Safe, Medical Audits and Happy Fox ticketing system (Training will be provided)
  • Has the ability to travel, as will be required to work at other sites.
  • Ability to work out of hours, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as needs arises.
