Due to continued expansion Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are now recruiting for a CSSD Engineer. The successful candidate will be based in Ballykelly, Limavady.

Job Summary

You will be required to carry out repairs, minor planned installations and maintenance work on a wide range of services within the Sterile Services Department.  Perform testing to current HTM’s.  Ensure all records and documentation are completed in compliance with the Department’s Quality System, i.e. ISO 13485:2003, ISO 9001:2000 and the EU Medical Devices Directive.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide routine maintenance daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly/revalidation testing procedures on washer disinfectors in accordance with current HTM requirements.
  2. Provide routine maintenance daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly/revalidation testing procedures on sterilizers in accordance with current HTM requirements.
  3. To carry out plant checks and minor maintenance on the Air Handling Units within the Hospital and assist with environmental and physical testing in accordance with HTM requirements.
  4. Use appropriate tools and test equipment and be responsible for the care and maintenance of this equipment.  Assist with maintenance and testing of the washer disinfectors, sterilizers and their supply when contract Engineers are on site.
  5. Carry out cleaning duties within the area of responsibility, e.g. boiler houses, plant rooms, sterilized maintenance area and Test Person’s workshop.
  6. Comply with the SSD work instruction on dress code, health and hygiene and Personal Protective Clothing.
  7. Carry out a safe system of work within the Sterile Services Department, together with Statutory Regulations such as Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling and Fire training.
  8. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the Department’s Quality System, i.e. ISO 13485:2003, ISO 9001:2000 and the EU Medical Devices Directive.
  9. Perform duties within other areas of the Hospital if required.
  10. To manage, co-ordinate and ensure implementation of maintenance activities from external contractors.
  11. Review plant spares requirements to ensure production equipment has minimal disruption.
  12. Ensure effective liaison and co-ordination with SSD Management staff and operators.
  13. Complete training courses as required some of which may be based in England.
  14. Participate in annual performance reviews and development planning.
  15. Have a flexible approach to working hours

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in an SSD department either as a qualified technician or to have completed SSD/EDD technician training Experience of communicating with users of the service and handling enquiries
  • Knowledge of the standards expected in the Quality Assurance Systems and Medical Devices Regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant HTMs  & Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and PPE
  • Able to perform as a member of a team
  • Clear Communicator
  • Able to Organise and Prioritise Tasks
  • Able to use SSD/EDD equipment or receive training on use of SSD/EDD equipment such as washer disinfectors, ultrasonic washers, sterilisers.
  • Be able to understand and implement manufacturer’s guidelines for the decontamination and sterilisation of re-usable medical devices.
  • Have good manual dexterity and excellent vision with or without the use of glasses or contact lenses.
  • Able to work in an area with moderate to heavy physical activity including moving instrument sets, moving loaded instrument trolleys, moving manifolds for washers. Work involves sitting, standing and walking.
  • Able to concentrate for long periods of time whilst quality checking complex instrumentation.
  • Able to work in an environment where there is high exposure to items contaminated with blood, bone and tissue.
  • Flexibility to work various shift patterns on a rotational basis.
  • Experience in an Electrical discipline would be advantageous
