I am a Consultant Gynaecologist / Gynaecological Oncologist at the Belfast Trust, based at the Belfast City Hospital. I specialise in treating women with gynaecological cancers and women requiring complex pelvic surgery.
I have a long history of training other doctors and a continuing interest in medical publications in peer reviewed journals.
In 2019 I was separately interviewed and appointed to roles of the Lead Clinician for gynaecological cancer and also the Lead Clinician for patient safety in gynaecology in the Belfast Trust.
Most of my training has taken place in Northern Ireland and England but I have also trained in Toulouse, France and Melbourne, Australia.
My other special interests include the care of women with pelvic pain, endometriosis, heavy or irregular periods, vaginal discharge, ovarian cysts, abnormal smears, cancer screening and vulval problems such as VIN.
In particular I am a specialist in keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, difficult pelvic surgery, colposcopy for abnormal smears and transvaginal ultrasound scanning.
Following extended training, I am one of the few subspeciality trained gynaecological cancer surgeons in Northern Ireland.
Please note I do not treat women with bladder problems or perform surgery for prolapse or incontinence and these women should see my colleagues specialising in urogynaecology.
