Mr. Andrew Spence
Kingsbridge Laser Eye Clinic is the only clinic that offers Presbyond ageing eyes laser treatment on the island of Ireland – an optimised laser procedure for age-related focusing loss. PRESBYOND LASIK is ideally suited for 40-60 year old patients who are interested in a more sophisticated, less invasive solution for ageing eyes.
This advanced laser surgery combines elements of LASIK with additional techniques.
Enhances depth of focus and improve near vision while maintaining good distance vision.
Laser Blended Vision finetunes the depth of field for each eye individually. The functional age of the eye is also factored in. As a result, a personalised ablation profile is created per eye for optimised target refraction.
This is laser eye surgery is particularly suited for those with age-related vision loss. So, ideal for serving the needs of patients 40–60 years of age and is one of the least invasive methods for addressing this age group.
By customising each eye individually, PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision provides excellent visual acuity for near and distance vision. Unlike traditional monovision methods, LASIK with PRESBYOND also offers good intermediate vision in the Blend Zone. According to clinical studies, there is virtually no loss of contrast sensitivity while stereoacuity is maintained. Also, side effects such as multiple images in one eye are almost eliminated.
If you have vision problems, our Optometrist Consultants will assess you and, if they think laser eye surgery is right, advise on the most suitable type of laser eye surgery.

Knowing what happens at each stage of laser eye surgery can help you feel prepared and more at ease. Here’s what you can expect:
Before Surgery
You will have a detailed consultation to assess your suitability for PRESBYOND laser eye surgery. Your vision, eye health, and lifestyle needs will be reviewed, and precise measurements will be taken to create your personalised treatment plan. You may be asked to stop wearing contact lenses for a few days before the procedure. Your care team will provide clear instructions to help you prepare.
During Surgery
PRESBYOND is performed under local anaesthetic eye drops. The laser reshapes the cornea to extend your depth of focus, allowing you to see clearly at near, intermediate, and distance ranges without glasses. The procedure is quick and painless, usually completed in less than 30 minutes, with both eyes treated in one session.
After Surgery
You will rest briefly before going home the same day. Vision may be slightly blurred or hazy for the first few hours, improving over the following days. Eye drops and aftercare instructions will be provided to support healing and comfort. Most patients can return to daily activities within 24 to 48 hours, with vision continuing to stabilise over the next few weeks.
Millions of eyes have been successfully treated with SMILE around the world.
SMILE Pro is suitable for patients who are short-sighted and/or have astigmatism.
We can help you have the next set of eyes that no longer need glasses.
