Wisam Muen’s Profile
Mr Wisam Muen is a Consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises in laser eye surgery, premium lens surgery and cataracts. He has worked as the Lead Consultant for the Royal Eye Unit in Kingston, the Royal College Tutor in charge of training ophthalmologists and the governance lead for his department. He received excellence awards for his work in the NHS. Mr Muen also works in London Harley street where he treats patients wanting freedom from glasses.
Mr Muen qualified from Manchester University in 1997 when he was awarded the British Medical Association award for the Best Medical Research Project and the Manchester University Best Neuroscience Research Project.
He completed an extensive surgical training programme leading to the award of MRCS.Ed in Surgery before further specialising in Ophthalmology. He’s on the specialist register for Ophthalmology. He trained in multiple centres of excellence and university hospitals in Liverpool, Scotland, Cambridge and London. In the NHS as well as treating patients with cataract and corneal problems he also treats children with eye conditions, he’s one of a few number of consultants to hold this dual accreditation.
Mr Muen undertook further training in the diagnosis and medical management of corneal eye diseases and laser eye surgery. He holds the post graduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery. He is able to offer the full range of treatments to help get rid of glasses and contact lenses.
Mr Muen is involved in research and has published many peer-reviewed articles in international journals. He is committed to improving patient outcomes and regularly gives teaching to other health professionals. He regularly receives positive feedback from patients for his clear communication, caring attitude and excellent level of care.
