Job Summary

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with experience in patient safety and risk management to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with clinical teams, staff, and the public to ensure that our patients receive safe and effective care. They will provide guidance, support, and training on current practices and processes to increase safety, reduce risk, and improve patient outcomes. They will also develop and implement policies and procedures related to patient safety, audit patient records, and identify risks and incidents that could affect the safety and wellbeing of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and investigate patient safety incidents and promote learning from these incidents.
  2. Develop and deliver patient safety programmes, initiatives, and events across the hospital.
  3. Monitor and improve quality and safety standards in hospital practice.
  4. Develop and provide staff with best practices in patient safety and quality care.
  5. Provide clinical advice and guidance on patient safety and improvement strategies.
  6. Increase awareness of patient safety and quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.
  7. Provide data management and analysis capabilities to support patient safety initiatives.
  8. Prepare reports and make recommendations to relevant stakeholders on patient safety incidents and outcomes.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of patient safety programmes.
  10. Provide technical support and guidance to the clinical teams on patient safety and clinical processes.
  11. Update and administer a policy database.
  12. Monitor training compliance.

The above list is not exhaustive and additional / alternative tasks may be required from time to time as directed.

Criteria:

  1. A relevant healthcare-related degree or equivalent (e.g. medicine, nursing, health management, etc.).
  2. 5+ years of experience in patient safety with proven results in risk management, incident investigation, error reporting, data analysis, process improvement, and root cause analysis.
  3. Excellent knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations such as the EU’s Clinical Trials Regulation and local Irish regulations which include registration, notification, and reporting of serious adverse events.
  4. Proven ability to collaborate successfully with other healthcare stakeholders to develop and/or implement patient safety initiatives.
  5. Advanced research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse complex data from a variety of sources.
  6. Proven record of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize activities to manage tight timelines.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional team members.
  8. Able to demonstrate a positive customer service attitude when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Proficient computer skills.
