Mr. Andrew Spence
Would you like to see your partner’s face clearly without glasses? Would you like to play sports without the fear of broken glasses? In situations like these, many people would love to be able to see clearly – without glasses or contact lenses!
SMILE (small incision lenticule extraction) is the most advanced laser eye surgery.
It is used to treat short-sightedness and astigmatism. The procedure is very precise, virtually pain-free and an excellent option for people with an active lifestyle..
Laser Eye Surgery costs vary depending on the procedure and your personal treatment plan. We’ll give you a clear price guide upfront and explain what’s included.
Flexible payment options are available to help spread the cost. Our team is here to answer questions and help you choose the best way to pay.

Knowing what happens at each stage of laser eye surgery can help you feel prepared and more at ease. Here’s what you can expect:
Before Surgery
You will have a detailed consultation to confirm your suitability for SMILE laser eye surgery. Your eyes will be assessed using advanced imaging to create a personalised treatment plan. You may be advised to stop wearing contact lenses for a few days before the procedure. Clear instructions will be provided to help you prepare.
During Surgery
SMILE is performed under local anaesthetic eye drops to ensure comfort. A precise femtosecond laser creates a small lens-shaped piece of tissue within the cornea, which is then removed through a tiny incision. This reshapes the cornea to correct your vision. The procedure is minimally invasive, takes about 15 minutes, and usually treats both eyes in one session.
After Surgery
You can go home shortly after treatment. Your vision may be slightly blurred for the first few hours and will begin to improve within a day or two. Eye drops will be prescribed to support healing and reduce dryness. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can return to normal activities within 24 to 48 hours.
If you have vision problems, our Optometrist Consultants will assess you and, if they think laser eye surgery is right, advise on the most suitable type of laser eye surgery.
