These are several different types of scars including:
Keloid scars. These scars are the result of an over-active healing process. A keloid scar is an enlarged, raised scar that can be pink, red, skin-coloured or darker than the surrounding skin. They can develop after very minor skin damage, such as an acne spot or a piercing, and spread beyond the original area of skin damage.
Over time, a keloid scar may restrict movement. Treatments include surgery to remove the scar or steroid injections. Smaller keloids can be treated using cryotherapy (freezing therapy using liquid nitrogen).
Contracture scars. Skin that has been burned can result in a contracture scar. These scars tighten skin, which can restrict your ability to move. Contracture scars may also go deeper, affecting muscles and nerves.
Hypertrophic scars. These are raised, red scars that are similar to keloids but do not go beyond the boundary of the injury. Treatments include injections of steroids to reduce inflammation.
Acnescars. Severe acne can result in scarring. There are many types of acne scars, from deep pits to scars that are angular or wavelike in appearance. Treatment options depend on the type of acne scars.
Our consultants are specialists with years of experience. From your first consultation through to your recovery, you’ll be under the care of experts who are dedicated to helping you achieve the best possible results.

What happens during treatment?
Scar revision surgery can take on average one hour. During the surgery excessive scar tissue is removed and the edges are sutured together to improve the scar. In some cases, steroid injections are performed to improve the results. In some cases, more than one procedure will be required over time.
How long does it take to recover?
The recovery time can take 1-2 weeks and healing will continue for several weeks. And as the scar heals it will gradually fade over time.
Risks & complications of treatment
