Mr Michael McBride
Facelift and neck lift surgery is a procedure that helps reduce visible signs of ageing by tightening and reshaping the skin and muscles of the face and neck.
Facelift and neck lift surgery involves tightening the skin and underlying muscles to create a smoother and more defined appearance in the face and neck. The procedure is tailored to each patient, focusing on areas where skin has loosened or sagged.

Facelift and necklift surgery can provide longer lasting results than non-surgical treatments. The procedure helps create a firmer facial shape, reduces deep lines, and restores definition around the jaw and neck. It can also improve the appearance of sagging skin and contribute to a more refreshed look.
These benefits often lead patients to feel more confident about their appearance. By understanding the potential outcomes, you can make an informed decision about whether this surgery meets your needs.

Top plastic surgeon, Mr. Michael McBride explains what you can expect with both facelift and neck lift surgery.
Knowing what happens at each stage of surgery can help you feel prepared and more at ease. Here’s what you can expect:
Before Surgery
You will have a consultation to discuss your goals, medical history, and the most suitable surgical approach. Pre‑operative assessments may include blood tests and imaging. You may be advised to stop smoking and certain medications before surgery.
During Surgery
Surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic. The surgeon will make carefully placed incisions to lift and tighten skin and muscles. Once the desired contour is achieved, the incisions are closed, often with fine sutures, and dressings are applied.
After Surgery
You may experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort for several days. Pain can be managed with prescribed medication. Most patients can return to normal activities within two to three weeks, while full recovery and final results can take several months. Follow‑up appointments ensure proper healing and address any concerns.
