Mr Michael McBride
A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure to raise the brows. A brow lift smooths the area from your eye brows to your hairline, improving the appearance of the forehead, the brow and the area around the eyes. A brow lift freshens the appearance of the forehead, the brow and the area around the eyes to create a smoother, more rested appearance.
What Is Breast Reduction Surgery?
Brow Lift Surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise sagging eyebrows and reduce wrinkles on your forehead. The surgery can improve the appearance of tired or heavy-looking eyes. It is performed under general or local anaesthetic, depending on your needs and the technique used. The procedure typically involves making small incisions in the forehead or hairline to lift and reposition the underlying tissue. Recovery times can vary, but most people return to normal activities within one to two weeks.
As you age your skin begins to lose elasticity. Lines on the forehead can develop and increase over time. Brow lift surgery can be performed when the brow droop is affecting vision or the ability to open the eyelids. Eyebrow droop can cause significant overhang of upper eyelid skin over the lashes, which can interfere with the vision. This can occur over either eye or both.
You might decide to have a brow lift if you have a low, drooping brow or brow asymmetry. The lower position of the eyebrows can make you look tired, angry or upset. A brow lift can be done alone or with other facial procedures, such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a face-lift.

Knowing what happens at each stage of surgery can help you feel prepared and more at ease. Here’s what you can expect:
Before Surgery
You will have a consultation to discuss your goals, medical history, and any medications you take. Your surgeon may take photographs of your face and explain the procedure, risks, and recovery process. You may be advised to stop certain medications, avoid smoking, and follow specific instructions to prepare for surgery.
During Surgery
Brow Lift Surgery is usually performed under general or local anaesthetic. Your surgeon will make incisions in the forehead or hairline, lift the underlying tissue, and remove any excess skin. The incisions are then closed with sutures. The procedure typically lasts between one and two hours, depending on the technique used.
After Surgery
You may experience swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort, which usually improves within a few days. Your surgeon will provide guidance on caring for your incisions, managing pain, and gradually returning to normal activities. Stitches may be removed after about a week, and most people can resume regular activities within one to two weeks. Full results are usually visible after several weeks, as swelling and bruising settle.
