Paying Through Insurance
Whether you have private medical insurance through your employer or an individual policy, Kingsbridge Hospital makes it easy to access fast, high-quality healthcare anywhere in Ireland.
If you plan to use your insurance for treatment, you’ll need to stay in contact with your insurer throughout the process. Every policy is different, so make sure you’re familiar with your own terms and conditions, especially any limits, excesses or exclusions. If you are aware of any restrictions, please let us know beforehand so we can help guide you.
How to Book Your Appointment Through Insurance
Step 1 – Get a Referral From Your GP
You will need a referral and confirmation of cover from your insurance provider before booking. Once you have both, a member of our team will be in touch to arrange your appointment.
If you already have your referral letter and have spoken to your insurer for approval, you can contact us directly to book:
NI: +44 (0) 28 9066 7878
ROI: +353 (0) 1 968 2000
Some insurers allow self-referral for certain services (such as physiotherapy). Your insurer can advise whether this applies to your policy.
Step 2 – Contact Your Private Medical Insurer
Before booking with us, please contact your insurer to obtain pre-authorisation.
They will:
- Confirm whether your policy covers your chosen consultant or treatment
- Advise which consultants you can see if you don’t already have one in mind
- Provide a pre-authorisation number for your claim
This step is essential to ensure your treatment is covered.
Step 3 – Book Your Consultation with Us
Once you have pre-authorisation, contact our Patient Adviser team to arrange your appointment.
Please have the following ready:
- Your insurer’s name
- Your policy or membership number
- Your pre-authorisation code
- The name of your Consultant (if applicable)
Our team works closely with insurers every day, so if you have a question about your claim or the process, we are always happy to help.
Policy on Excess Charges
Some insurance policies include an excess or may not cover certain elements of treatment.
To make this process easier:
- We request card details during booking
- These details are only used if your insurer does not fully settle your bill
- You will be notified in advance before any payment is taken
