Kingsbridge Hospital Group Consultant Mr Ian Walsh Awarded Professorship at Queen's University Belfast

Kingsbridge Healthcare Group (KHG) is delighted to announce that our esteemed colleague Mr Ian K Walsh, has been appointed Honorary Professor of Practice, Queen’s University Belfast, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences in the disciplines of Urology, Surgery and Psychosexual Medicine.

Professor Walsh who has been part of the team of Consultants at KHG from its very inception, working across all our hospitals both in NI and ROI, is one of the most highly regarded specialist practitioners in his field, both in the medical sphere and in academia.

Collaborating with the Compassionate Mindful Resilience Program for people with kidney disease and carers, he is also responsible for the recently commissioned Clinical Integrated Renalogy and Renality teaching program at QUB School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Plans this year will see Professor Walsh foster multiprofessional working, support and practice in healthcare, offering an enhancement among academic, professional, and clinical collaboration between the School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Medicine, National Health Service and Kingsbridge Healthcare Group.

A recognised regional, national, and international figure in the arena of Arts and Health/Medical Humanities, Professor Walsh has represented Queen’s widely in the media, academic fora and artistic performance platforms. He is also a founding member of the Renal Arts Group, QUB School of Nursing and Midwifery.

In his spare time Ian is a professional musician (classically trained multi- instrumentalist) and works as a music producer as well as playing in a local band called RagBone. He is also a professional writer, with both fiction and nonfiction amongst his published works. He is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
