Kingsbridge Private Hospital is currently seeking to recruit a Clinical Educator for Augmented Care and Cardio Thoracics. The successful candidate will be based at Kingsbridge Private Hospital on the Lisburn Road, but may be required to travel to other Company locations as and when required.

Job Summary

The postholder, in conjunction with the PACU Manager, will be responsible for facilitating education and practice development within the Kingsbridge’s Augmented Care Suite.  She/he will collaborate with key individuals, including the various Ward/Department Managers, the Patient Safety Nurse and Nurse Clinical Lead. To ensure that sufficient expertise exists within the Augmented Care suite to provide cardiac surgical intensive nursing care in our specialist centre.  The postholder will play a key role in facilitating work-based learning focused on enabling staff to work in a person-centred approach.  The postholder will deliver a competency-based framework to train staff to become competent in HDU/ICU care. He/she will also play a key role in identifying education and development needs and innovative ways of providing them.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base ensuring professional, academic, and clinical credibility. This will involve working and role modelling as a practitioner in the unit and involve participating in the internal rotation system as required.
  • Participate in and support involvement in audit activities.
  • Ensure regular evaluation of effectiveness of own role.
  • Provide leadership that facilitates professional decision making and effective team working.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise by role modelling person centred practice to others.
  • Participate in ensuring systems and processes are in place to support and lead nursing staff in promoting person centred care to agreed standards.
  • Promote nursing in the Unit in order to enhance recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
 
Education, Research and Practice Development
  • Ensure the ongoing training and educational needs of nursing staff within Augmented Care and to develop personalised development programmes to meet these needs.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver the training and education of nursing staff within Augmented Care and ensure that they have the appropriate skills and knowledge base to deliver quality nursing care.
  • Co-ordinates the Augmented Care nursing staff attendance at statutory training sessions pertaining to ICU/HDU.
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of effective orientation/preceptorship programmes for nursing staff in Augmented Care in conjunction with the PACU Manager.
  • Work closely with all cardiac surgical intensive care nursing staff and assist them to evaluate their own development.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate uptake of formal training & development programmes for Augmented Care nursing staff, in conjunction with Ward Managers.
  • Participate with the Nursing Clinical Lead and PACU/Ward Managers, in the training and induction programmes for nursing auxiliaries/HCSW within Augmented Care.
  • Participate in, support and encourage research and evidence-based practice for the enhancement of patient care.
  • Contribute to developing an environment that encourages reflective practice through action learning, clinical supervision and peer review.
  • Act as a key facilitator in co-ordinating learning opportunities to address individual needs identified through the appraisal system in Augmented Care.
  • Maintain own personal and professional development in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and within the Scope of Professional Practice.
  • Liaise with external educational establishments in ensuring validation of formal training & development programmes.
Management
  • Adhere to all Kingsbridge Private Hospital and Healthcare Group Policies.
  • Participates in developing a strategic plan for education, training and development within Augmented Care.
  • Attend working groups and meetings as required.            
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of Augmented Care nursing staff.
  • Ensures effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Coordinate the ICU/HDU nursing rota on behalf of the PACU Manager as required

Qualifications
  • Qualified RGN with PACU/ICU/HDU experience.
  • Qualification in Nursing Education.
