Dr Masud Haq completed his medical training at the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy’s & St.Thomas’ Hospital (MBBS Hons, London)

During his training he completed a Bachelor in Biochemistry (BSc Hons, London University) and gained valuable experience at some of the leading international centres including Johns Hopkins, Baltimore and St.Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. His postgraduate training was in London and included centres of excellence such as the Royal Brompton, St.George’s Hospital, Atkinson Morley’s Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.

He also completed a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) at the Royal Marsden Hospital in thyroid disease. On completion of his training, he was awarded dual accreditation in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General medicine in 2006 before taking up a substantive consultant position at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust in 2008. He led his department for eight years during which time he established a new community diabetes service which was a double finalist at the prestigious National HSJ Value Awards.

Dr Haq has published over 140 articles including peer reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts & posters.

He has been a Principal Investigator for the ADDRESS-2 (After-Diagnosis Diabetes REsearch Support System) study which is funded by National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). He has also been an investigator for the National Dapagliflozin Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) Study and Worldwide Diabetes Omnipod Study.

He is a keen teacher contributing to the undergraduate programmes at King’s College, London and Canterbury Christchurch University. He is currently working towards his accreditation to become a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd).

Personal profile

Dr. Haq loves spending time with his two nephews. He is also a keen sportsman, so if not trekking up the Brecon Beacons, he’ll be on his road bike whizzing round parts of the UK raising money for children’s charities. He always enjoys a challenge and is about to embark on his first triathlon.
