Marion O’Connor’s Profile

Marion O’Connor is a highly experienced Specialist Dietitian with over 25 years of expertise in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery. She holds a BSc in Physiology from the University of Galway and an MSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Ulster.

Marion spent much of her career working within the UK’s leading specialist centres. She served as the Lead Dietitian in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust Nutrition Support Team, managing enteral, parenteral, and home parenteral nutrition. From 2008 until 2014, she was the Lead Dietitian on the Intestinal Transplant Team in Oxford, working closely with complex surgical and transplant patients across the UK. 

With decades of clinical experience, Marion is recognised as an expert in gastrointestinal health and has a particular interest in the gut microbiome and its impact on overall health and disease. She has extensive experience managing complex chronic conditions.

Since 2003, Marion has successfully run her own private dietetic practice and runs the Good Gut Clinic www.goodgutclinic.co.uk supporting patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and metabolic conditions.

Beyond her clinical work, Marion is passionate about education and knowledge sharing. She has delivered talks at local, national, and international meetings and has a keen interest in educating medical and healthcare professionals. Each year, she speaks at the Regional Dietitians’ Meeting on the role of diet in inflammatory bowel disease. She recently presented to patients and carers of people living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). 

Marion also has an interest in health technology and has been involved in developing innovative tools and solutions designed to improve patients’ quality of life.

In recognition of her dedication to patient-centred care, Marion was a finalist in the Excellence in Private Healthcare Awards 2025, shortlisted in the Excellence in Patient Care category.

Combining her vast clinical expertise with a passion for personalised nutrition, innovation, and patient advocacy, Marion aims to help patients manage symptoms, restore gut health, and improve overall well-being.
