Karen Randhawa’s Profile
Ms Karen Randhawa MBChB, FRCS (Urol), MFST (Ed), FECSM is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and is Northern Ireland’s first regional specialist Andrology (male genital and reproductive health) surgeon. She accepts regional referrals from urologists throughout Northern Ireland for complex andrology, penile prostheses and male infertility in her NHS practice.
She specialises in all penile disorders including erectile dysfunction, male factor infertility, foreskin problems, penile curvature, and penile prostheses.
Ms Randhawa is head of the Regional Penile Cancer Service for Northern Ireland, where she established a regional specialist cancer service based at Altnagelvin Hospital in 2019. She has also recently established the regional Penile Prosthesis Service for Northern Ireland in the Western Trust.
She completed her registrar training in general urology in Northern Ireland, following which she completed andrology, male infertility and penile cancer fellowships in world-renowned specialist centres in Edinburgh and London. She has a keen interest in teaching, and is an Honorary Lecturer with Queens University Belfast. Ms Randhawa has also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education and is an accredited member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers with Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. She has taught and chaired at national urological conferences in her specialist fields. Ms Randhawa was also recently the first urologist in Northern Ireland to be elected to the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) National Executive Committee for Andrology.
Ms Randhawa has presented research at both national and international conferences and has authored both journal articles and book chapters in her specialist field. She is also a certified Fellow of the European College of Sexual Medicine.
