Mr. Ronan McKeown’s Profile

Mr Ronan McKeown studied in QUB Medical School, graduating in 1989. His Trauma & Orthopaedic training was on the NI Regional Training Program. During this time he undertook clinical research and was awarded Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) by Queen’s University Belfast in 2003.

Towards the end of his training he completed the intercollegiate exam in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCSI Tr&Orth) in 2004. Prior to his appointment as Consultant, Mr McKeown underwent extensive fellowship training in. 1. Upper Limb & Knee Arthroplasty and Sports Surgery and 2. Foot and Ankle Surgery, in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dublin. Mr McKeown is currently Clinical Director Trauma & Orthopaedics, SHSCT. His clinical focus is on shoulder surgery. He has been a pioneer arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
