Mr Paul Sexton’s Profile’s Profile
Mr Sexton is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a specialist interest in skin cancer and facial skin surgery of the head and neck.
He completed higher specialist training in Ireland and was the recipient of two Royal College of Surgeons fellowship awards. He subsequently undertook advanced training in head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery at Hull Teaching Hospitals (UK), focusing on the management of oral and skin cancer and complex facial reconstruction.
He provides a dedicated service for the assessment and surgical treatment of suspicious skin lesions, with expertise in the management of non-melanoma skin cancer, including basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. His approach focuses on early diagnosis, complete excision, and achieving optimal cosmetic and functional outcomes, particularly in the head and neck region.
He works closely with dermatology colleagues to ensure accurate diagnosis and to guide patients toward medical or non-surgical treatments where appropriate, ensuring surgery is only undertaken when it is the best option.
He also provides a comprehensive oral surgery service, including complex wisdom tooth removal and orthodontic-related surgical procedures.
Mr Sexton is an Honorary Lecturer with the University of Galway and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
A native of Sligo, Mr Sexton has strong ties to the local community and is known for his calm, clear, and patient-focused approach, ensuring patients feel fully informed and reassured throughout their care.
