Mr Jim McConway’s Profile

Mr McConway is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. Mr McConway is a full time NHS Consultant in The Ulster Hospital Dundonald and Musgrave Park Hospital Belfast.

Mr Jim McConway Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, M.Phil FRCS Tr & Orth. Mr McConway graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998.

He trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Northern Ireland Higher Surgical Training Programme for 6 years. He spent 1 1/2 years in full time research, sponsored by the Belfast Arthroplasty Research Trust. He successfully completed the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) examination in 2011.

Mr McConway further increased his upper limb skills with a 1 year post training fellowship in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery in Scotland’s Tertiary referral centre for Shoulder & Elbow in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He has also completed an 18 month fellowship in primary hip replacement. Mr McConway is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society.

His main special interests are: Shoulder & elbow conditions, Shoulder replacement, Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, Rotator cuff repair, Arthroscopic subacromial decompression, Arthroscopic subacromial decompression and acromioclavicular joint excision, Acromioclavicular joint excision, Acromioclavicular joint repair, Shoulder stabilisation surgery, Shoulder Labral repair, Shoulder & elbow trauma, Clavicle fixation, Tennis/Golfers elbow treatment/surgery, Carpal & Cubital tunnel release and Radial head excision.
