Gerry Kelly’s Profile
Mr Gerard Kelly is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma surgery, complex limb reconstruction surgery, sports injuries and the surgical treatment of all foot and ankle conditions.
Mr Kelly graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2009. He completed the Northern Ireland Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training programme. Mr Kelly also completed a higher degree in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery through the University of Edinburgh. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (Trauma & Orthopaedics) in 2018.
Mr Kelly went on to complete the world-renowned Liverpool Foot & Ankle surgery fellowship under the guidance of Mr Andy Molloy and Prof. Lyndon Mason. He also completed the prestigious Complex Limb Reconstruction fellowship in Liverpool under the guidance of Mr Badri Narayan.
Mr Kelly is a Consultant in Musgrave Park Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. He has a large tertiary referral practice, taking referrals from across Northern Ireland. Mr Kelly specialises in all aspects of Foot and Ankle surgery including deformity correction, heel pain, foot and ankle arthritis, metatarsalgia, bunions, flat feet and ligament injuries. His practice includes ankle replacement surgery and Mr Kelly offers both open, selective minimally invasive surgery and arthroscopic surgery. He also specialises in adult and paediatric complex deformity correction, leg length discrepancy, infection management and both paediatric and adult complex fracture surgery. His is trained to use both internal and external fixation methods including Ilizarov and Hexapod frame techniques.
Mr Kelly, in addition to his clinical activities, has published and presented his work both nationally and internationally. Mr Kelly is regularly invited to teach on complex deformity courses both nationally and internationally. He has won multiple awards for his quality improvement work with a focus on improving patient’s experiences and safety.
