Gerard Rafferty’s Profile

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, based at the Belfast City Hospital and the Royal Victoria Hospital.

I graduated from QUB in 2000.  During my registrar training I completed an MSc in Human Nutrition.   My specialist interests are intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy.

I specialise in treating gastro-intestinal disorders including reflux, dyspepsia, IBS and inflammatory bowel disease.

I also have sub-speciality interest in intestinal failure/nutrition and co-chair the NI regional intestinal failure service based in Belfast City Hospital. 

Most of my training has taken place in Northern Ireland but I have also trained in London and Manchester.

  • MB BCh QUB, 2000.
  • MSc Human Nutrition University Ulster, 2010.
