Joanna Cushley’s Profile
Joanna is a specialist SLT for preschool and school age children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. She works with children across a range of difficulties including Autism, Attention and Listening, Articulation and Phonology, Language Disorder, Bilingualism, Developmental Language Disorder, Dyspraxia, Early Childhood Language Development, Stammering, Voice Disorders, Down’s Syndrome and Learning Difficulties.
Joanna has worked extensively as a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with children of all ages in Northern Ireland, since 2010. This has included over 10 years experience on the NHS.
She has worked both in community clinics for children aged up to 18 years and mainstream nurseries and schools; as well as offering training to parents and education staff. She has a keen passion for communication and helping children to reach their communicative potential through targeted and individualised assessment, diagnosis and intervention.
Joanna has got a wide range of additional postgraduate courses and training to date, including: Makaton, Derbyshire Language Scheme, Hanen, Parent-Child Interaction stammering approach, and PECS. Joanna is also fully trained and qualified in the administration and scoring of the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule).
