Tommy Tang’s Profile

Dr Thomas Tang MD MRCOG is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Specialist in Reproductive Medicine, Clinical Lead in the Regional Fertility Centre, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

Dr Thomas Tang graduated from the University of Aberdeen and did most of his specialist training in the Yorkshire region. He was awarded a postgraduate degree of Doctor of Medicine by the University of Leeds in 2007; his research focused on fertility care for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and evaluation of evidence-based medicine.  

He became a consultant in 2009 in the Yorkshire region initially, joining the team in the Regional Fertility Centre, Belfast in 2012, offering a broad range of fertility treatments including ovulation induction and IVF/ICSI, as well as fertility preservation. He is also interested on postgraduate education and an honorary senior lecturer in the University of Leeds. He is a regular clinical lecturer in the clinical embryology master degree course (University of Leeds) and the ultrasound course in the British Fertility Society.    

Dr Thomas Tang has extensive experience of investigating and treating patients who are experiencing delay in conceiving, as well as a strong background in research into fertility problems.  He has published over 25 original articles and has presented to over 50 national and international conferences.  He is currently a Guest Editor of the Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, an Associate Editor for the RCOG Journal ‘The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist’ and Editorial Member of the Human Fertility Journal.
