Dr Sean Esmonde’s Profile

Dr Sean Esmonde is a consultant cardiologist specialising in electrophysiology (rhythm abnormalities) and cardiac devices.

He completed his cardiology specialty training in Northern Ireland. Dr Esmonde initially completed his degree and initial medical training in Manchester, England.

Following this, Dr Esmonde gained a fellowship sub-specialising in electrophysiology and cardio-genetics in Mater Misercordiae University Hospital, Dublin.  Here, he worked in the Family Heart Screening Clinic before taking up a consultant post in Dublin. He would later move to a permanent consultant post in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

Dr Esmonde investigates general cardiac and rhythm disorders, and provide solutions in a compassionate and personalised manner. He performs procedures in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

As a consultant cardiologist, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to his patients, utilising a patient-centered approach that emphasises empathy, communication, and shared decision-making. Dr Esmonde believes in staying at the forefront of medical advancements through continued education, research, and collaboration with colleagues, ultimately striving to improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals with cardiovascular diseases.
