Dr Mark McClure’s Profile

Dr Mark McClure is a kidney specialist (Consultant Nephrologist) at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, caring for people with a wide range of kidney problems. He looks after conditions such as chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure, kidney stones (prevention and medical management), electrolyte imbalances and inflammatory diseases that affect the kidney’s filters, including vasculitis and lupus.

He qualified in 2008 and went on to complete advanced kidney and transplant training in specialist centres in Cambridge and Bristol before joining the Belfast kidney team in 2024. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he researched new treatments targeting the immune system in certain types of vasculitis, and is an Honorary Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast, with active involvement in clinical research.
