Dr Mark McClure’s Profile

Dr Mark McClure is a Consultant Nephrologist at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, specialising in kidney and transplant medicine. He has expertise in a broad range of kidney conditions, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), kidney stones, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, and lupus.

Dr McClure graduated in 2008 and completed specialist training in leading kidney and transplant centres in Cambridge and Bristol before joining the Belfast kidney team in 2024. He holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Cambridge, where his research focused on B cell therapy in ANCA-associated vasculitis. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast and is actively involved in clinical research and medical education.

Known for his approachable and compassionate manner, Dr McClure combines clinical excellence with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice. He is dedicated to shared decision-making, ensuring that patients and their families are fully involved in their care.
