Catherine Scullion’s Profile
Dr Catherine Scullion’s area of specialism is Adult Mental Health. She works with adults who are experiencing all levels of psychological and emotional distress. This includes people who are regarded as having mild to moderate mental health difficulties as well as individuals who are considered to have severe and enduring mental health problems.
She was awarded a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Birmingham in 2007. She is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
She has 26 years of experience in the field of Clinical Psychology including 3 years in NHS England and the remainder in Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland.
In addition to offering psychological assessment, her therapeutic work draws upon a wide range of psychological interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT, Compassion focused therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Catherine Scullion sees patients aged 21 and over. She works with a wide range of difficulties, including mild to moderate mental health problems such as anxiety and low mood, stress, trauma-related difficulties including PTSD and complex trauma, OCD, depression, interpersonal difficulties (excluding couples work), self‑esteem issues, bereavement and loss, and severe and enduring mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder and psychosis.
