We also offer a full range of advanced cardiac treatments and procedures, supported by our team of expert cardiologists and specialist clinicians. Following the opening of our two-bed ICU in 2022, which enabled us to introduce cardiac surgery and offer a complete cardiac care pathway, Kingsbridge reached another exciting milestone with the opening of our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath Lab). We were proud to welcome our first patient in February, marking a significant step forward in expanding our cardiac services. This new facility allows us to grow the range of cardiac investigations and procedures we can provide, further strengthening our ability to deliver timely, specialist heart care to patients across Northern Ireland and beyond.
Professor Aaron Peace, Consultant Cardiologist, and lead of our new Cath Lab explains, “We can look, in real time, for obstructions. Some patients will have normal results – some will show moderate disease while others will paint a more severe picture. We can assess location of disease and narrowing’s and discuss these findings and the plan of treatment before they come back for a second procedure. Many issues we can fix, and there is tremendous satisfaction in that.”
