Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are currently seeking to fill the role of Pharmacy Assistant within the Pharmacy Department. The successful candidate will be based at Kingsbridge Private Hospital but may be required to travel to other Company locations as and when required.

Salary £20,000 - £21,000 per annum

Hours 25 per week, Monday - Friday
Responsible to Lead Pharmacist
Accountable to NULL

Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist the Lead Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing drugs to patients and healthcare providers. They will verify that prescriptions are filled correctly and in a timely manner, whilst carrying out essential legal and professional checks. The post holder will be required to receive, record, and store medications coming into the pharmacy and maintain a safe, efficient dispensing process at all times.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. To co-operate with the Lead Pharmacist responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the pharmacy.
  2. Commitment to excellent teamwork whilst adhering to Kingsbridge Private Hospital’s standards of service delivery.
  3. To be flexible and to cover appropriate workload of colleagues where required.
  4. To complete accredited Pharmacy Assistant training when required.
  5. Ensure compliance with legal, professional and hospital requirements at all times.
  6. Work to own personal professional development plan and identify own training needs as required.
  7. To be responsible for the general tidiness and adequate stocking of the dispensary and ensure good stock rotation in order to minimize expired stock.
  8. To replenish the dispensary with cartons, bottles and bags on a daily basis, and order such consumables when required.
  9. To be responsible for processing and disposal of medicines returned from wards and departments in line with SOPs
  10. To undertake the day-to-day ordering, receipt and maintenance of medicines, using the pharmacy computer system, according to SOPs, and to assist the Procurement team wherever appropriate.
  11. To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines at all times.
  12. To assist with stock control and the maintenance of reasonable stock levels within the dispensary.
  13. Delivery of safe, cost effective pharmacy supply services.
  14. To deliver to tight deadlines.
  15. To undergo training associated with the operation of the dispensing system and to operate said system as required.
  16. To undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Pharmacist as and when required.

Qualifications  
  • GCSE Maths and English – Grades A-C
  • Accredited pharmacy assistant training.
Experience
  • Experience working in line with strict operational procedures.
  • Previous dispensing experience.
Special Knowledge and Skills
  • High level of numeracy and accuracy skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Knowledge of drug regulations NI.
