Dr Courtney specialist areas include transgender endocrinology and antenatal endocrinology. He treats all forms of diabetes including type 1, type 2 and antenatal diabetes care.
Dr Courtney is a consultant endocrinologist, having graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1992 and trained in Endocrinology & Diabetes in N Ireland and at the University of California San Diego.
He is based at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and practices privately at Kingsbridge Private Hospital.
His interests include general endocrinology including thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, gynae-endocrine and calcium disorders. His specialist areas include transgender endocrinology and antenatal endocrinology. He treats all forms of diabetes including type 1, type 2 and antenatal diabetes care.
Dr Courtney is actively involved in teaching at Queens University, Belfast and is co-chair of the Diabetes Clinical Research Network in N Ireland. He has held several regional leadership roles in Diabetes UK, the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and in the Joint British Diabetes Societies Inpatient Diabetes Group. He is Regional Adviser for the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
